Compare the full offer
Pay is one part of the decision. Review duties, manager, schedule, location, benefits, growth, travel, and the conditions that matter to your life. Put questions in writing and keep a copy of the final offer.
If you negotiate, make a specific request tied to the role and your experience. Decide what would make the offer workable before the conversation. This guide is general information, not legal or financial advice.
Verify before sharing sensitive details
The FTC warns that job scammers post on job sites and impersonate recruiters. Check the opening on the employer’s own site, verify the recruiter through a known company channel, and be wary of unexpected messages with vague duties.
Never pay to get a job or to get paid. Do not deposit a check and send some of the money onward. Pause if an offer arrives before a real interview or if someone demands immediate personal or banking information.
Know when to walk away
A legitimate opportunity can still be wrong for you. If the scope, pay, safety, or values do not work, a polite decline is enough. Keep your search records so you can learn from the process and return to other leads.
Before saying yes: confirm the employer, compare the full terms, and get the final offer in writing.
